From this three-inch screen emerged the 60-inch television sets of the 21st century. Philo Farnsworth, the pioneer of television technology, filed for a patent in 1927 and called this revolutionary invention as the ‘Image Dissector’.
In 1930, about 200 television sets were used world-wide. They were characterized by small screens, black and white pictures and turn dial controls and. They were usually enclosed in wooden cabinets.

During the 1980s, there were no significant changes in the design of the television set but there was a rapid growth in cable subscription.

According to Ebuyer, LCDs are televisions sets that are thinner than CRTs and use fluorescent bulb as illuminators. LED TVs, on the other hand, are the updated version of LCDs. They are narrower and are illuminated by light emitting diodes instead of fluorescent bulbs. Plasma TVs, in terms of contrast and color accuracy, are arguably superior to the two types.
